Nearing the summit
As you can tell this semester has also gotten away from me. There was a lot of assignments and the organizing of graduation and signing up for NCLEX and taking pictures and finishing out the last clinical rotations, etc. I have been running non stop all semester and cannot believe that I am now one week from graduating and 6 days from pinning!! It has all flown by it seems.
This semester has honestly been the best semester for me. I enjoyed clinical more due to my experience in all other classes and it seemed I was more in control and prepared to handle situations on my own. I still needed help and guidance and will for a while but it was a great feeling being able to pull all my knowledge together and step into the role of nurse. The classes also flowed much better for me as well. Even with Psych being an important part of the core nursing classes I didn't have to bend over backwards to achieve the grades I wanted. I have completed community and Leadership with A's and have my psych final on Monday. ( I am working on this final to keep my A). So once you have neared the end of your program, just breathe! You will start pulling it all together and be able to breeze through the last 4 months.
Now on the job status. I have been applying to multiple openings in all of the hospitals in Louisville, KY because that is where I would like to move to. I have received many replies stating I need a license to continue, which i expected. I did receive a call for an interview in one of the major hospitals in Louisville and have now been called back for the second interview! I am super excited about the hospital and the position but am now also wondering what other options I may have out there. I have not received calls yet from another hospital in lexington but my resume did make it to the nurse managers, so I am crossing my fingers there. I did apply to the nurse residency at Vanderbilt in Nashville. I was interviewed and am currently waiting to hear from them. The response may leave me in a predicament if it is good but if not will just move forward as planned. I only started applying early because of my desire to work in another state and trying to find all I can. There are plenty of people in my class who have not yet and are waiting for the NCLEX before they do. My sister in law did that and landed a job within a month. You will be fine whatever route you take as long as you are dedicated and put yourself out there. :)
Well I am going to return to my psych studies and hope that you all have a wonderful Holiday season incase I don't make it back before the holidays. Peace!
